EECU – A Community Credit Union is pleased to announce that their 2011 EECU College Scholarships have been awarded to Kelsey Carney, a graduating senior from Northwest High School, and Charlie Briner, a graduate of Jonesville High School.
The winners are selected based on their excellence in academics and outstanding community service, and each student is rewarded with a $1,000 scholarship to a college or university of their choice. Kelsey will be attending Western Michigan University where she plans to study Pre-Early Childhood Education, and Charlie will be studying at Michigan Technological University where he will pursue a degree in Engineering.
This year’s scholarships were awarded in memory of William (Bill) Shushok, a former long-time EECU Board Member who sadly passed away recently. Bill served many dedicated years on the Board of Directors and will be missed by all at EECU.
EECU’s Board of Directors, management, and staff have faith in the youth of tomorrow. In that regard, the EECU College Scholarships were developed to help two deserving area high school graduates realize their career goals. EECU congratulates all applicants for their high academic scores, leadership and accomplishments throughout their high school career.
