During the month of April, EECU – A Community Credit Union celebrated Financial Literacy Month and participated in National Credit Union Youth Week April 18-23 with special promotions and events, including games, drawings, prizes, refreshments and fun for youth of all ages. The theme was “Money Rocks at My Credit Union,” and they ended youth week with a visit from AAA, who gave out free bicycle helmets and safety tips.
EECU is pleased to announce the winners of their grand prize drawings. Eligibility for the drawings included current and new youth members attending the youth day events at each branch location, and making a deposit to their EECU Johnny Appleseed, Cha Ching or Edge youth account. All prizes were compliments of EECU and the following members each won a unique age-appropriate prize, centered around the Money Rocks music theme. Bryann Dishaw, age 10, Johnny Appleseed Karaoke Machine; Holli Slamka, age 13, Cha Ching Sony Micro Music System; and Dylan Trudell, age 18, Edge iPod Touch. Additionally, EECU youth members had the opportunity to guess the amount of coin in the jar at each of EECU’s four offices. The winner was determined by the person who guessed the closest to the correct amount, and the winner, Breanna Binkley, age 10, won a jar of coin valued at approximately $58.
According to EECU Youth Event Coordinator, Liz Hoffius, “EECU’s youth programs are all absolutely FREE and are designed to help educate youth about the importance of saving money and developing good spending habits. They provide the tools necessary to take the first step toward financial independence and properly manage personal finances for a lifetime.” EECU would like to thank the grand prize winners and all other members who participated in April’s youth promotion. Congratulations!
