EECU is a Proud Supporter of Relay for Life!
EECU – A Community Credit Union is a proud supporter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Several EECU employees and their families participated with a team of walkers in the annual Jackson Relay for Life event in August to raise funds for and support the program, which gives hope to finding a cure for cancer. Staff wore their custom-made EECU lavender and silver “Celebrate Life” t-shirts and raised over $2,900.00 for the event, exceeding their goal of $2,000.00. The group raised funds in a variety of creative ways throughout the summer, including: employee dress down days, bake sales, popcorn day, in- branch donations, selling Relay for Life luminaries and much more!
Since the American Cancer Society’s research program was started, more than $3.4 billion has been awarded to cancer researchers across the nation, including 44 who have gone on to win the Nobel Prize. Through Relay for Life, EECU is making it possible for this lifesaving research, and all of the education, advocacy, and service programs of the American Cancer Society to continue.
“We are so excited to be part of Relay for Life, as we are not only raising money to fund the mission of the American Cancer Society, but are also helping to raise awareness of this disease,” says EECU Relay for Life team organizer Sara Sandefur. “Everyone in our community, including our employees, members, and board will be touched by cancer in some way during their life. This event gives us a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.”
