We Have Changed Our Name!

We are pleased to make an important announcement that will mark an exciting milestone in our Credit Union’s history. EECU has applied for and been granted permission from both the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the State of Michigan, Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIR) to adopt a new name. The process of changing our name will begin on April 1, 2013, and the name we have selected and are pleased to announce will be: Michigan Community Credit Union.

This decision emerged as a result of research and evaluation in their marketplace under the leadership of our Board of Directors and employees. EECU – A Community Credit Union is a very strong and well-capitalized credit union. Because of our strength and the state of the financial competition in their region, we feel this is the best time to position the Credit Union for future growth and provide the ability to serve more families, friends and neighbors in the communities we serve who need a quality financial institution.
EECU is very proud of their history and heritage, and remains committed to our local educational community, the original founders and owners of their Credit Union. Since 1936, local educators and their families have counted on the support and services of their financial family at EECU. Over the years, the Credit Union has continued to thrive and prosper thanks to our valued members! Membership has since expanded to a “community” chartered credit union, including many local families, businesses, associations and more. However, in the last few years, it has become apparent to them that we must also adopt a new name for our Credit Union that more accurately reflects and identifies with the members and communities we serve as a whole in southern Michigan. Additionally, this strategic decision will help to better position the Credit Union for future growth and the ability to serve even more residents and small businesses in our communities that are looking to develop lifetime financial partnerships.

“EECU members are and always will be the most important reason for our success. The Credit Union’s name may be changing but our employees and the high level of personal service that members have come to know and trust, will continue as always. The Credit Union was built on our members’ loyalty, and we are thankful for their support and confidence in us,” said Steve Cobb, President and CEO of EECU. EECU members can be assured that the Credit Union remains committed to making their Credit Union the financial institution of choice…one with a social purpose and passion for meeting all of their financial needs at any stage of life and for contributing to the communities in which we all live, work and play!

We are excited about this new milestone in our Credit Union’s history, and we invite you to share in the celebration as we embark on this new journey. Visit our new website on April 1st at
