Q: When will I receive my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Members will begin receiving their new card(s) in the mail in late December 2013 or early January 2014.

Q: Why are you replacing my existing card(s) with a MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: We want to exceed your expectations of excellent service and that’s why we’ve partnered with MasterCard®.
     As a MasterCard® cardholder, your card automatically comes with benefits that save you time and money.

Q: Will I still earn points to redeem for rewards and gift cards when I make purchases with my new MasterCard Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Yes! The same great points will continue to be rewarded for signature-based (non-PIN) transactions - 1 point per $1 spent with a credit card and 1 point per $2 spent with a debit card. Any currently unused points from the current ExtraAwards program will be automatically transferred to the new card point program, and Debit and Credit Card points will still be combined. MCCU’s new and exciting CO-OP Member Rewards card points program (replaces ExtraAwards) will offer new gift card options, and you will now earn bonus points for shopping at participating retailers.Additionally, you will have access to enhanced rewards member support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All cardholders will receive a CO-OP Member Rewards welcome packet in the mail in January 2014.

Q: What other benefits will I enjoy with my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: By using your new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card, you will enjoy a wide array of enhanced benefits, rewards and protection. In addition to the convenience of acceptance at millions of locations worldwide, the safety of ¹Zero Liability against unauthorized purchases (see below), and ²MasterCard® Global Service™ 24/7 emergency lost or stolen card replacement, you will also benefit from: ²MasterCard® Airport Concierge™, Price Protection, Identity Theft Resolution Services with Wallet Protection, Extended Warranty, and ³MasterCard® SecureCode™ (added protection and security for online MasterCard card purchases – see below). Q: Will I still have 24-hour security monitoring and liability protection against unauthorized purchases with my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Yes, you will still have 24-hour security monitoring and liability protection against unauthorized purchases with your new card(s). MCCU is committed to keeping our members’ assets safe while minimizing any inconvenience that protecting your accounts may cause. That’s why we work with a premier fraud protection service to monitor activity on our members’ cards and notify us, and you, of any suspicious transactions. When fraudulent card activity is suspected, like when you buy a big-ticket item at a store where you have no previous purchase history, you will be contacted immediately by a fraud analyst to verify the transaction. If you tell us the transaction is valid, subsequent purchases will not be blocked. If card activity cannot be verified by you, the transaction will be marked as suspicious and your card will be blocked immediately. Additionally, MasterCard® cardholders pay only for the purchases they have authorized on their U.S. issued MasterCard® card and won’t be held liable in the event of unauthorized purchases with ¹Zero Liability protection. The coverage extends to purchases made in a store, over the telephone, or online. Zero Liability is provided under the following conditions: thecardholder’s account is in good standing, the cardholder has exercised reasonable care in safeguarding their card, and the

Q: Will I still have access to added protection and security for online MasterCard® card purchases with my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Yes. ³MasterCard® SecureCode™ is a free service to enhance your MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card account (replaces Verified by Visa®). A private code means added protection and security against unauthorized use of your card when you shop at participating online retailers. You will find a link at www.micommunitycu.com after January 22 from the Credit Card and Checking/Debit Card pages that will provide details and registration information. Q: Can I continue to use my old VISA® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Your current VISA® Debit and/or Credit Card will work up to 11:59 p.m. EST on January 21, 2014. For
a smoother transition, MCCU has established an activation telephone service. Simply call the number found
on the sticker on the front of the new card(s). Once you have activated your new card(s), and after January 22, 2014, it will be ok to destroy your old card(s) and begin using the new card(s). Instructions for activation will be enclosed with the new card(s).

Q: Will the account number on my new card(s) be the same?
A: For enhanced security and protection, your new card(s) will reflect a new, unique 16-digit card number, and
    each cardholder on the account(s) will separately receive new card(s) with unique card number(s). 

Q: What if I have automatic payments set up on my current VISA® Debit and/or Credit Cards?
A: If you have automatic payments linked to your old card number(s) and want to switch them to your new card(s), be sure to contact the companies you are automatically paying each month and give them your new card number(s) and expiration date(s). This will ensure no interruption in recurring or preauthorized payments, such as gym memberships, movie clubs or monthly electric/phone bills, etc. As an alternative convenience, bring your billing information to any MCCU branch and a Member Service Representative will be glad to assist you in making those changes to the new card(s), or set you up for FREE Online Banking and Bill Pay, as well as set up the bills for you.

Q: How do I use my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card to pay for purchases after activation?
A: You simply present your card and sign the receipt or enter your PIN, and the purchase amount will be deducted from your Checking Account or Credit Card account available balance. Every purchase will be listed on your account statement, as well as on Online Banking and 24-Hour Audio Response Telephone Banking for easy record keeping. Please remember that when you sign for purchases you earn points to redeem for rewards.

Q: Where can I use my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Your new card offers acceptance for purchases at millions of places where MasterCard® is accepted, including restaurants, gas stations, doctors’ offices, department stores, home improvement stores, online merchants, and much more!

Q: What if I have used my current VISA® Debit and/or Credit Card for a pre-authorization on a hotel reservation or some other transaction for a date after January 21?
A: Simply provide your new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card at check-in or the time of service, as your old card will no longer be valid after January 21.

Q: Will my Checking Account be affected?
A: No. Your Checking Account will not change or be interrupted in any way, and your Member/Checking Account number will remain the same.

Q: Will I get the same card design that I currently have?
A: We are pleased to announce that all new MasterCard® Debit and Credit Cards will have a fresh, new design. Please refer to the new card images at the top of the card notification letter to see how your new card(s) will look.

Q: Will I still see transaction activity for my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card through Online Banking?
A: Yes, you may check the status and transaction activity of your account(s) 24/7 at www.micommunitycu.com.

Q: Will I still have access to my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card transactions through 24-Hour Audio Response Telephone Banking?
A: Yes, you may check the status and transaction activity of your account(s) 24/7 by calling 800.232.3328.

Q: Will my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card work at the ATM?
A: Yes, use your new MasterCard® Debit Card to get cash at over a million ATMs around the world that display the MasterCard®, CO-OP™, Cirrus®, Maestro®, or NYCE® acceptance marks. Use your new MasterCard® Credit Card to get cash at over a million ATMs around the world that display the MasterCard®, CO-OP™, or Cirrus® acceptance marks. You may also use your card at any of MCCU’s 8 ATM locations. Remember that all CO-OP™ ATMs are surcharge free! Q: Will daily ATM withdrawal & purchase limits remain the same with my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: Yes, daily ATM withdrawal and purchase limits will remain the same.

Q: Will my PIN remain the same? Can I change my PIN for my new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card?
A: For security purposes, you will receive a new PIN in the mail a few days after receiving the new cards. If you wish to customize your PIN, you will be able to do so beginning January 22, 2014 at any MCCU ATM or by calling 800.503.9249.   

Q: Will my interest rate or fee structure on my new MasterCard® Credit Card change?
A:
No, your interest rate and fee structure are not changing.

Q: Will the due date for my Credit Card payment change?
A: No, your due date will remain the same.

Q: Will I still receive my monthly Credit Card statement from Michigan Community Credit Union?
A: Yes, you will still receive your monthly Credit Card statement from MCCU.

Q: Will I still make my monthly Credit Card payment to Michigan Community Credit Union?
A: Yes, you will still be able to conveniently pay your Credit Card payment at any MCCU branch location.

Q: Is there anything else I need to do?
A: Please contact the Credit Union immediately if you will be vacationing out-of-state during the time that new cards will be mailed. Also, please be sure to provide the Credit Union with any recent address changes, as well as with current e-mail addresses, home phone numbers and cell phone numbers. Then, watch for your new MasterCard® Debit and/or Credit Card to arrive in the mail. Activate your new card(s) by simply calling the toll-free number on the front of the card(s) and following the steps prompted by the operator. Next, begin using it wherever MasterCard® cards are accepted. It’s that easy!
