5 Ways to Save Money this Winter
Here it comes: the cold winter weather. I don't know how many people are actually excited about winter, because I can tell you that it's not my favorite season at least. Give me warm sunshine and hot temperatures any day of the week and I'm a happy camper. At any rate, it is coming and that means the electric bill is probably going up in the next few months. You can save money this winter just by making a few little changes.
1. Turn your thermostat down.
That's the first step in saving money. You have to be okay with keeping your home a little bit cooler. But don't worry, there are ways to keep warm and keep heat inside.
2. Bake something.
Using your oven will warm up your home significantly and also result in something delicious to eat. :) Once you finish baking, leave the oven door open to let all that extra heat into your house.
3. Cover your windows.
Get one of those great plastic wrap kits that you can use to cover your windows. They make a huge difference, especially with older, drafty windows where heat escapes. This alone will reduce your heating bill because it keeps more heat inside your house.
4. Get a space heater.
There's no point in heating a room in your home that you don't spend a lot of time in. Just turn on an energy efficient space heater while you're in there.
5. Have friends over.
Body heat will warm up your living room quicker than you think. Have game nights with hot cocoa and fill your home with family and friends!
