Summer Family Staycation

Family vacations always seem to be bonding experiences. They are a time to interact in a relaxed environment and spend quality time together having fun as a family. But sometimes you find yourself at a loss for time or money to take the whole fam on a vaca. If you haven't been able to get everyone together for a week this summer, why not try a weekend staycation? A staycation is a vacation you take with your family in your own part of the world. Weather it's right in your town or just 30 minutes down the road, it's a local vacation. Taking some time off to just enjoy time with each other can be so rejuvenating. Plan to spend one night away or just spend the whole weekend together in your own home doing things out in the town that you have never done or normally wouldn't do all together.
Here's a list of things to “pack” for your staycation to make it feel more like a real vacation.

First-aid kit
Bug spray
(lots of) Snacks
Picnic blanket

Take all these items (and whatever else you can think of to make it a fun staycation) to your backyard, a local park, or a nearby tourist town. Here's a few ideas of things to enjoy together.

Visit the zoo, an aquarium, or museums.
If this isn't a normal activity for your family, it could fun to go together and see all the exciting things on display.

Go to the beach.
This is one of the best options. A great way to enjoy a picnic, some sunshine, swimming, volley ball, frisbee, fishing, boating – all of the great things about summer!

Go camping.
Are you a camping family? If not, maybe try it out this weekend! It's a great way to just relax and enjoy nature.

Take a day trip to a local town.
Research all of the fun or tourist things to do in a nearby town that you have never explored.

Go to a festival or fair.
Plan your staycation around a local fair or festival that's going on.

Get creative as a family and see what else you can come up with that everyone would enjoy doing together! Don't let the summer pass you by without spending some quality time with those you love.
